Siena's Libraries

Looking for a place where to study, there is no shortage of libraries in Siena!

If you'd like to hang out in a Renaissance cloister, go to the University of Economics library (piazza San Francesco), whereas if you prefer a more intimate place, choose the brick vaults of the public library Biblioteca degli Intronati (via della Sapienza 3).

In Sala Rosa (Piazzetta Gigli 1) you can do your homework in a former church, in San Niccolò Library (via Roma 56) in a former psychiatric hospital. Should you prefer a fantastic view on Tuscan landscape, choose the Circolo Giuridico (Via Mattioli, specialized in politics, history and law). My favorite is the 3rd floor, but in case you want to avoid all the distractions, go to the underground floor, where there is no connection for cellphones or wifi.

Looking for a garden for you breaks, go to Fieravecchia Library (via Fieravecchia 19) or to the Laterino Library (via Laterina 2).
Art History fans can't miss Fondo Briganti (Palazzo Squarcialupi, piazza Duomo 1), in the premises of Santa Maria della Scala Museum, a picture library and an extraordinary collection of art books.

In case you are just looking for an e-book or digital newspaper, go online to the Medialibrary Toscana (for the password, log in at the Biblioteca degli Intronati).
