This is an introductory course for would-be Book Restorers, Librarians or curators of private collections basically, but also as an adjunct to Bookbinding, Finebinding or Book Art. It is essentialy "hands on" and students will have access to actual examples od damaged books from a local collection to work on. They will be introduced to old and new papers,both hand-made and industrial and a short history of books and their production will be included in the course. The emphasis however, will be on the care and preservation of books, from 1800 to modern day.
